So that was one of the weirdest beers I’ve ever tasted. It was like drinking those cheesy poof balls and tacobell mild sauce? They obviously brewed it as a joke, and I can appreciate the flavor but it was just super weird overall. Photos at the bottom, and the reel is on our IG.
We’re always on the lookout for new and trending beer options. Straight out of this month’s weird beer options menu is the new Modist Brewing Company (Minneapolis, MN) collab with Hormel Foods. Modist Brewing was founded in 2016 and is known for their midwestern best sellers like DREAMYARD and pHresh. Hormel Foods of Austin, Minnesota was founded in 1891 by George A. Hormel. The food giant is best known for its brands like Skippy and Applegate as well as some questionable animal keeping and slaughter practices (per PETA).
So you may be thinking, Modist and Skippy beer collab sounds amazing! But then you remember that this is the beer world, and Hormel is best known for their canned chili. Oh yes, the two Minnesota companies pulled out all the stops to collab on a Chili Cheese Lager. Even Jack Greer, the head brewer of Modist, came out and said “We’ve made a lot of wacky beers over the years, but this one takes the cake.”
Cans of the Modist/Hormel Chili Cheese Brew are now on sale here. Will you be trying it? Let us know on IG or the comments section below. I ordered a 4-pack of it because Hormel Chili was the canned chili we used to create our National Hotdog Day reel. The lager currently has a 35 Untappd reviews and does not have an aggregated score yet:
“I am horrified but it’s not half bad.” – Alex F.
“It’s as novelty as it gets. Like liquid chili cheese Fritos and regular ass lager. Had it with a side of rack of lamb.” – Minnesota Brewsassin
“Do you think God stays in heaven because he too lives in fear of what he’s created here on earth?” Featuring a chili dog from Uncle Franky’s” – Jacob K.
“Actually not awful” – Tyler M.
